To analyze the composition and dynamics of microbial populations, The Netherlands-based TNO has established the Microflora Exploration Centre (MEC). Analysis will be performed on intestinal, skin, oral cavity and vaginal microbial populations using TNO’s DNA-chip based diagnostics, which measure and monitor up to 600 species within one run. The food, personal care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries can use the services of MEC to develop products and ingredients that improve health by establishing a balanced microbial flora.
